YOUNG READERS - THOROUGHBRED SERIES

Beginning in 1991, an exciting new horse series was created by Joanna
Campbell. Lacking the clumsiness of The Saddle Club, Thoroughbred
is about Thoroughbred horses and the people who love and ride them. Beginning
with Ashleigh's Wonder, a horse few think will amount to anything,
Ashleigh Griffen begins her own legacy when she offers to look after
the sickly foal.
Although the newer books are written by different authors, they are all
horse authors, such as Chris Platt. Platt lends her talent to many of the
Thoroughbred Ashleigh books as well.
Even though the rating on this series is for 9-12 year olds, adults will
enjoy this series that does not talk down to children or have a moral in
every story.
